Our Habits are inseparably related to our ego.
There are 2 ways of relating one’s self to life: One is that of playing horse while life rides. The other is that of becoming the rider while life plays horse.
The choice as to whether one becomes the horse or the rider is the privilege of every person, but this much is certain – If one does not choose to become the rider of life, he is sure to be forced to become the horse…
…Life either rides or is ridden. It never stands still.
Everyone knows that practically everything we do, from the time we begin to walk is the result of Habits.
Walking and talking are habits, Our manner of eating and drinking is a habit, our sex activities are the results of habit.
Our relationships with others, positive or negative are the results of habits.
But few people understand why or how we form habits
Habits are inseparably related to the human ego.
Ego is the medium through which faith and all other states of mind operate.
Throughout this philosophy great emphasis has been placed upon the distinction between passive faith and active faith. The Ego is the medium of expression of all action. Therefore we must know something of its nature and possibilities in order that we may make the best use of it. We should learn how to stimulate the Ego into action and how to control and guide it to the attainment of your purpose.
Above all we must disabuse our minds of the popular error of believing the ego to be only a medium for expression of vanity.
The word “Ego” is of Latin origin, and it means “I”.
But it also connotes a driving force which may be organized and made to serve as the medium for translating desire into faith, through action.

Hi Garhod,
Am a retired engineer 87 years old and have studied for 3 months on
the ego related to enlightenment. Eight sources with the majority
been India gurus. Some sources state that we must kill the ego to achiever enlightenment. One of them is similear to your view that
we must change the Ego from enemy to friend.
Also, a Ben Franklin quote says: Love your friends so as not to loose them and love your enemies so that you can win them
Am much impressed with your view point. Best Recards Bob Million
thanks Bob
